On November 20, 2024, a meaningful event was organized by the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at Antalya Bilim University as part of the IAED 3103 Furniture Design course, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Uğur KAHRAMAN, Asst. Prof. Dr. Enes Can KILIÇ, and Res. Asst. Ferhat KOYUNCU. The event allowed students to experience all stages of the furniture design process. As part of the course, students designed seating benches and tables, gaining both theoretical and practical experience under the guidance of Mehmet ADSIZ, Co-Founder of DUAL Architecture Construction Industry and Trade Inc., and Project Manager Merve DEDE.
The significance of this process was further emphasized by the fact that the students’ designs would be produced at full scale (1:1) in the workshops of Dual Interiors. During a technical factory tour organized to help students better understand the production phase, they had the opportunity to closely observe the critical role of technical drawings in manufacturing processes, connection details, painting techniques, and material usage. This experience provided students with an invaluable opportunity to learn every detail of furniture design on-site.
The technical factory tour and participation in the production process enhanced the students' ability to bring their designs to life in the real world, contributing significantly to their preparation for professional careers. Supported by Dual Interiors, this event enabled students to gain practical experience in a real production process, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed for furniture design.
We extend our gratitude to Mehmet ADSIZ, Co-Founder of DUAL Architecture Construction Industry and Trade Inc., and Project Manager Merve DEDE for their guidance and support in making this meaningful event possible for our students.
