On September 30, 2024, as part of the IAED 3002 Space Design Studio VI course, a preparatory exercise for the students' veterinary clinic project was conducted under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Yaren ŞEKERCİ and Research Assistant Müge DEVELİER. This preliminary project, guided throughout a class day by Dr. Yaren ŞEKERCİ and Research Assistant Müge DEVELİER, involved students working in groups to design cat houses. The project aimed to encourage students to integrate social responsibility awareness into their design processes while emphasizing the importance of teamwork and collaboration. Additionally, it aimed to raise awareness among students regarding pet scales to be used in the design of the veterinary clinic during the semester.
Throughout the project, students gained hands-on experience in establishing efficient collaboration within a team and effectively distributing responsibilities among team members. Groups consisting of students from different disciplines were able to express their creativity during the cat house design process, while also understanding the importance of generating collective solutions to a design problem. This process provided students with critical skills such as managing team dynamics, solving problems together, and considering diverse perspectives. Furthermore, by reinforcing a sense of social responsibility, it contributed to their understanding of the value of design approaches that benefit society.
This comprehensive group work contributed to the professional development of students, preparing them to approach future projects with greater knowledge and awareness.
