Gençay SEVİM completed her undergraduate education at Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Arts and Science, Department of Physics in 2014. He got his master's degree from Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Biophysics, in 2016. He got his doctorate degree from Eskişehir Technical University Advanced Technologies Department Nanotechnology Program in 2023. He is the first PhD graduate of the Nanotechnology program, which was Turkey's first established within Anadolu University and later transferred to Eskişehir Technical University. He is also one of the first scholars of the YÖK 100/2000 Doctoral Scholarship in the field of Nanobiotechnological Targeted Drugs, which was launched in 2017.

During his master's degree in biophysics, he focused on medical imaging systems and worked on the optical design and software development of the diffuse optical tomography (DOT) system, a medical imaging system for diagnosing breast cancer. In addition, during this period, he took part as a scholar in the project titled "Development of an Optical System for Testicular Torsion Diagnosis and Evaluation with Clinical Studies" which was supported within the scope of TUBITAK 1003 support.

During his doctoral education in the field of nanotechnology, he focused on nanobiotechnological targeted drug delivery systems for cancer treatment and investigated the effectiveness of Magneto-Electric Nanostructures used as targeting agents by performing synthesis, characterization, and in-vitro experiments. In this context, he took part as a researcher in the project "Development and Evaluation of Multiferroic Nanoparticle-Based Drug Delivery System" which was supported as Anadolu University Scientific Research Project.

He is working as a researcher in projects titled "Development and Clinical Trial Testing of LED Diffuse Optical Tomography System to Evaluate Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy Response in Breast Cancer" which is eligible to be supported within the scope of TUBITAK 1001 support as of January 2024 and "Determination of Production Parameters for Potential Radioisotopes that can be Produced at the TENMAK Proton Accelerator" which is eligible to be supported within the scope of TUBITAK 1002 support as of May 2024.

He has published 9 articles and 1 book chapter in international/national refereed journals in the fields of medical imaging, reconstruction algorithms, image processing, biotechnology, and biophysics. He has 8 papers presented at International Scientific Meetings. He took part in 2 working groups of the European COST action numbered CA18103 titled "(INNOGLY) Innovation with Glycans new frontiers from synthesis to new biological targets" and in 2 working groups of the action numbered CA18132 titled "Functional Glyconanomaterials for the Development of Diagnostics and Targeted Therapeutic Probes."

He worked as a lecturer at Ufuk University between 2020-2023. In September 2023, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor Doctor to Opticianry Program, Department of Medical Services and Techniques, Vocational School of Health Services, Antalya Bilim University and has been working since this date.
