Filiz ÖZCAN GÜREL graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Science, Department of Biology in 2004. She was awarded a master's degree in 2006 and a doctorate in 2015 by the Department of Medical Biochemistry of the Faculty of Medicine at Akdeniz University. Between 2007 and 2015, she worked as a research assistant in the same department. From 2015 to 2018, she was employed as a postdoctoral researcher on a TÜBİTAK-supported research project at the Department of Medical Biochemistry, within the Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine. Additionally, she participated in numerous research projects conducted during this time.
In her doctoral studies in medical biochemistry, she assessed the conditions of high-risk patients with acute kidney injury of diverse etiologies by developing mass spectrometric measurement techniques for L-FABP and netrin-1 proteins, which can serve as crucial biomarkers in a panel that can be utilized to ascertain the severity and prognosis of the disease. Besides her clinical research on a variety of diseases within the field of medical biochemistry, she has also authored numerous articles on cell culture and animal experimentation, as well as papers presented at both national and international scientific congresses.
In 2020, she was appointed to the Antalya Bilim University Vocational School of Health Services, Dialysis Program. She held the position of Head of the Department of Dental Services from October 2021 to November 2023, while concurrently acting as Assistant Director of the Vocational School of Health Services from July 2021 to November 2023. She currently works as an Assistant Professor at Antalya Bilim University, Vocational School of Health Services, Department of Medical Services and Techniques, Dialysis Program.
